Dream location
Reading through the March edition of Dwell I took quite an interest in the article about a couple living in Queenstown, New Zealand.
Queenstown is called the adventure town of New Zealand. Hordes of backpackers venture to the place to jetboat, do a bungy jump and various other adrenalin fuelled stuff.
The nature around Queenstown is simply breathtaking and the view over Lake Wakatipu is magnificent. On my first trip to New Zealand I arrived in Queenstown on a Friday afternoon. Taking it easy after a long bus ride I spent the rest of the afternoon drinking coffee and looking out on Lake Wakatipu watching the sun go down behind the Remarkables. It was spectacular. A bit granddaddy’ish I know, but none the less a fantastic sight.
Since then I’ve stayed over in Queenstown 2 or 3 times and loved it everytime. It’s a place I have felt most at home away from home. It felt right. A part of me definitely wants to live there. And particularly in a house like the one in the article. Besides that – the best cappucino I’ve ever tasted I got in Queenstown.
See for yourselves. Enjoy the photos courtesy of Flickr’s Places feature. And while you’re at it take a better look at the house by kerr >> ritchie.
